Hector Ramirez started roofing at 19, working summers for a local contractor while attending Pima Community College. By 28, he had learned every aspect of the trade — and grew frustrated watching homeowners get overcharged by out-of-town companies that showed up after every storm.

In 2008, with a truck, a crew of two, and a commitment to honest pricing, he launched Hector's Roofing. The first year, he worked 70-hour weeks. By 2012, he had a full crew and a reputation that kept the phone ringing year-round.

Today, Hector's Roofing employs 14 full-time people, carries a 4.9-star Google rating, and has recovered over $8 million in insurance claims for Tucson homeowners. The business is still run personally by Hector and his family.
